What should I do if the VCA freezes on my Exoid?


If your VCA freezes during use, first ensure you have installed the latest versions of both the Exoid Control Suite and the VCA firmware.

If the issue persists after updating, please follow the troubleshooting steps below:

  1. Pause the run:

    • If the VCA freezes during a run, ensure you press "Pause" in the software to suspend the recording.
  2. Check connections:

    • Ensure that the USB and power cables are securely connected. If the VCA is still not working, proceed to step 3.
  3. Reconnect the VCA:

    • In the Connections window of the software, disconnect the VCA component.
    • Wait 5 seconds before reconnecting it.
    • Resume the trace if it was paused. Check to see whether the VCA is working. If not, continue to step 4.
  4. Power cycle the instrument:

    • Close the software and power cycle the instrument by following these steps (or refer to page 18 of the Exoid User Manual):
      • Turn off the Exoid using the power switch. (The off position is where the full "O" symbol is pressed down.)
      • Unplug the USB and power cables from the Exoid.
      • Wait 5 seconds.
      • Plug the USB and power cables back into their respective sockets.
      • Turn the Exoid’s power switch back on.
    • Relaunch the software after the power cycle is complete.
