How do I download the qEV Zenco software?

You will need this software to operate your new Zenco system. Please follow the steps below to install it.

Prerequisites 

Please check that the computer you are installing the Zenco software on meets the following hardware and operating system requirements: 

  • Processor: Pentium 4M (32-bit) or higher (or equivalent) 
  • RAM: ≥1 GB 
  • Screen resolution: 1920 * 1080 pixels. Note – recommended screen scaling: 100% 
  • Disk space: ≥5 GB 
  • At least one network port 
  • Windows 10 (32-bit and 64-bit) or higher 

The Zenco instrument must be setup and connected to the computer prior to installing the software. Please see the User Manual for information on assembling and installing your new Zenco. 

Downloading and installing the Zenco software 

1.   Click here to download the Zenco installation package. 

2.  Go to Downloads and click into Zenco > Zenco > Zenco Installer > Volume   

3.  Double click on the ‘setup’ executable file to run the installer application, as shown in Figure 1.

If prompted, confirm that you wish to allow this app to make changes to your device. 

The install wizard will open showing where the software will be installed, as shown in Figure 2 below. Leave default options selected for this and all subsequent settings.

4.  Click ‘Next’ to progress through the install wizard and accept the licence agreement when prompted. Please note that if you do not accept the licence agreement, you will not be able to install the software. 

Install progress will be shown in the wizard, as illustrated in Figure 3 below. Please note this may take a few minutes to complete.

5.  Once installation is complete, click next as shown in Figure 4.

6.  You will now be prompted to restart the computer. Please make sure that anything else you are working on is saved and closed before restarting.

7.  Once the computer has restarted, the Zenco software icon should be available on the Desktop. Do not launch the software at this stage.

8.  Switch on the Zenco instrument before proceeding with the next stage of the install. 

9.  Navigate to C: > Program Files (x86) > Zenco > Driver and run the ‘Driver install’ batch file, as shown in Figure 5.

The Driver install will take you through installing SenseShield, Adobe Acrobat Reader, MSCAL.OCX, and MOXA UPort. A shell window will run in the background while these programs are installing. Do not close this window. 

10.  For each of these programs, allow the app to make changes to your computer when prompted and follow the steps in each install wizard. Leave settings and file paths as default unless instructed otherwise in the steps below.

11.  When installing fonts, click ‘install’ on the first font installation popup, as shown in Figure 6 below. After this first installation, you can then close this window and any further font installation popups as they appear (please note as there are 15 fonts being installed, this may happen multiple times).

12.  When installing MOXA UPort, the installation should be detected as displayed in Figure 7 below. If not, check instrument connections and select ‘Scan’. If the settings match what is shown below, click ‘Next’ to continue.

13.  Ensure that ‘Launch Windows Device Manager’ is checked before clicking ‘Finish’ on the MOXA UPort installation, as shown in Figure 8.

14.  In the Device Manager, open the ‘Multi-port serial adapters’ dropdown, as shown in Figure 9 below. Right click on ‘MOXA UPort 1410 Series’ and select ‘Properties’ from the menu.

15.  Navigate to the “Ports configuration” tab, as shown in Figure 10 below and for each of the four Ports check the ‘COM No.’ field is correct and set the ‘Interface’ field as given in Table 1. Do not change any other settings. Click ‘OK’ once you have configured all Ports.

16.  Save and close any remaining windows from the installation process.

You are now ready to log in to the Zenco software using the default credentials provided in the user manual. We recommend changing these immediately to make the account secure. For more information on logging in for the first time, please refer to the User Manual. You may be prompted to restart your computer after you first log in.
