      How do I calculate a dilution factor?

      The dilution factor is defined as total solution volume/sample aliquot volume i.e. 

       

       

      For example, if  5 μL of sample is diluted in 1000 μL of electrolyte, then:

       

      Volume (μL)
      Electrolyte 1000
      Sample Aliquot 5
      TOTAL 1005
